54 Years of History

In 1952, Will Hardee who operated a commercial fishing fleet of boats, relocated from Florida to Brownsville, Texas.  Once in Brownsville, he began operating his business and soon after he saw the need for a full service commercial marine supplies distributor.  He formed a supply company name SEA GARDEN SALES.  As his business ventures prospered, so did Sea Garden, eventually expanding to be the largest marine supplies distributor in Texas and the Gulf Coast region.

In the late 60's and 70's, Sea Garden expanded their products offering to include Farm and Ranch Supplies as well as Industrial Supplies.  Sea Garden's customer base grew to include government entities, contractors, and many other businesses outside the traditional fishing industries.

During the 80's and 90's, Sea Garden continued to expand their product lines to include more industrial supply type products and grow the industrial side of the business.  At this time Sea Garden had its company headquarters located in the fishing harbor of the Port of Brownsville, and also had a branch location in Harlingen, TX.  In 1999, Sea Garden opened it's largest distribution center in Pharr, TX.  This 40,000 sq.ft. facility was a true reflection of the industrial business Sea Garden had evolved into.

In 2004, Sea Garden Sales changed business name to SGS Industrial Supplies to better reflect the 100% industrial related business it had become.

In early 2005, SGS built a new corporate office and distribution center in Brownsville, TX.  With this addition, SGS has positioned itself as the leader in Industrial Supplies and Structural Steel in South Texas.
